Batik and exotic fabrics from around the world

We have a huge quantity of fabrics in stock, including many individual pieces, so the range shown here and available online is only a small sample. All the designs shown here are available as patchworking sets, and many can be ordered by the metre. Please enquire if you want large quantities of any fabric or wish to find a match for an existing fabric.

Please note that all the fabrics are handmade and each batch is unique. Consequently, colours and designs will vary slightly from the illustrations shown here.

Fabrics sold by the metre are 42 inches wide, the patchwork samples are approximately 10 inches square, and all the fabrics are washable. Many fabrics are supplied in 'sarong lengths' of approximately 2 metres.

African Wax Prints

This cotton fabric was made especially for the West African market. The colours are vibrant and the designs large. Available as a sample set of six designs, a set of four fat quarters and by the yard.

Antique Javanese Batik

This fabric comes from old, second hand and antique sarongs, mostly made at the time when natural dyes were still commonly used. They have been washed many times and are beautifully soft. Pure cotton in faded indigo blues, browns and creams. Available as a sample set of nine designs, a set of four fat quarters and by the metre. Please note that these fabrics come in 2m. lengths.

Balinese Batik

Reds, greens and blues on a crackled stone background give these characteristically Balinese fabrics a totally unique feel. Available as a sample set of six designs and as a set of four fat quarters (50 centimetre squares)

Balinese Gold Fabrics

Especially made for Balinese temple ceremonies, this fabric is bright, flowery and glitzy with all the designs edged in gold. Available as a patchwork set, in a set of four fat quarters and by the metre (please note these fabrics come in lengths of 2 metres)

Blue and White Batik

Pure cotton in the freshest of blue and white. This batik is specially made for us in Java. Available as a sample set of nine designs, a set of four fat quarters and by the metre.

Central Javanese Wedding Cloth

Rich browns, cream and black with the designs edgedin sparkling gold. Amazing fabrics with a wonderfully luxurious feel. Available as a sample set of six designs, a set of four fat quarters and as a length measuring approximately 1 metre x 2.25 metres.

Central Javanese Batik

This pure cotton hand made batik is quite unlike any other fabric. It comes from Central Java where the very best batik is produced. The colours are the traditional rich creams, browns and deep indigo of Javanese batik. Available as a sample set of nine designs, a set of four fat quarters and by the metre. These fabrics come in lengths of 2 metres.

Chinese Indigo Stitch Resist

Indigo blue cotton from Yunnan province, South West China. In traditional designs. Available as a sample set of six designs, a set of four fat quarters and by the metre.

Floral Batik

These lovely floral designs come from the north coast of Java. Originally made for Dutch colonial women in the last century, designs from this region are now famous. Available as a sample set of nine designs or a set of four fat quarters.
